Any snowmobile rider looking for improved acceleration, predictable handling and better stopping power on hard pack trail and icy conditions.
Studs are beneficial at any riding experience. Beginners benefit by a more predictable handling machine. Icy hills, corners, and road crossings are easily handled with studded tracks. Aggressive riders are able to get better hole shots and push the machine to its limits.
All trail riders will encounter icy conditions at some point and snowmobile track studs will help you remain in control.
Our high quality studs are made with a military grade stainless steel body with soldered 80° carbide tips that go down to the first thread.
The quantity depends on your machine's horsepower and riding style. We have specific recommendations for each snowmobile you can find here.
It takes on average 90-180 minutes depending on the quantity. We make laying out the stud pattern part quick with our tracspec-snowmobile-stud-templates.
For trail riding you only need to be 1/4"-3/8" over the track lug.
Yes, our Top Gun SP series studs feature a larger diameter head needed for single ply tracks. SP Backer plate has a larger diameter as well to mate with the stud. They are military grade stainless steel and feature carbide tips like the Top Gun II series.
Studs are measured by effective length and not overall length. It can be quite confusing, on paper one can expect to be only 1/8" over the track lug. The 1.375" stud length is actually around 1.75". We go into detail on measurements in this post.
Our Airlite™ series backer plates are made from DuPont® polymer blend that has been perfected over 20 years ago. Many have tried but nobody has matched the toughness of an Airlite™ backer.
When you install studs you want to counter the extra traction with a bigger carbide in the front. 2 per row you should have 6" of carbide and 3+ studs per row, 8" of carbide.
We do not. Our studs are strictly for trail ridding and not for deep snow tracks. The largest track lug that can be studded is 1.75".
