About Us

Fast-Trac About Us
You know how frustrating it is when you can't find decent snowmobile studs? Back in '89, a dealer was complaining to Navy vet David Weiland about the same thing. His son Terry heard it too—and sold his 29-foot cigarette boat to do something about it.
Picture this: Terry's got a young family, bills to pay, but when your old man sees riders struggling with junk products, you figure out how to help. They started where every good idea begins—David's garage.

It all started with a Navy veteran who understood what it meant to serve others. David Weiland brought that same dedication to solving problems that mattered to snowmobile riders.

When David heard dealers and riders complaining about inferior stud products, he saw an opportunity to make a real difference. His military background taught him that excellence isn't negotiable—especially when safety is on the line.

Probably should've moved out of that garage sooner, but you know how it is when you're obsessed with making something perfect. David and Terry weren't tweaking existing designs—they created the first stainless steel stud because nothing else would cut it for serious riders like you.

Then they tackled the backer problem, bringing in engineers with over a century of combined experience. Even then, it took years to nail the polymer backer that could handle the punishment you dish out on real trails.

You should've seen those early trade show days. Father and son loading up the truck every weekend, driving all over creation trying to convince folks like you that what they'd built in that garage was worth your money.

Some weekends they'd split up just to hit more shows. Twenty-plus weekends a year of proving themselves to riders who'd been burned by inferior products before. While the guys were buried in R&D, Terry's mom Norma handled everything else. For over 25 years, when you called Fast-Trac, you talked to Norma.

The Internet Changed Everything

We always knew our trail product could outperform anything else, but reaching riders like you was tough when gatekeepers controlled everything. The internet changed that game completely.

Suddenly we could talk directly to you instead of hoping some dealer would explain why our studs were different.

When David passed in 2017, it hit us all hard. But by then Terry's son Chris was already part of the family business. Three generations of Weilands, all understanding what matters to riders like you.

Chris and Terry are carrying on what David started—riders who understand what you face out there, building gear that won't let you down. Companies come and go, sleds change, but we're still here with that same garage-born obsession.
